Assisted Living Program
The Thomas B. Finan Center is a multilevel organization that has resources of staff, materials, and buildings to support local programs on campus. Willowbrook Square evolved out of a need to provide a less restrictive environment as a preparation for discharge to the community for a segment of the population on campus. It is independently licensed by the Office of Health Care Quality of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as an assisted living facility. Agreements exist with various departments at the Center to provide resources to the facility. Its administration is quasi-independent of Thomas B. Finan Center.
The mission of Willowbrook Square Assisted Living Program is to prepare the residents for community placement that matches and supports their functional level. The residents are empowered to make decisions and act upon them responsibly, thus improving their chances of successful integration into the community.
Residents are provided with a full spectrum of services, which include psychiatry, psychology, medical, nursing, social work, addictions, and a variety of rehabilitation services including occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation, and vocational adjustment. Some residents, with the guidance and support of the ALP staff, are employed in the local community. Resident's needs vary, but more often include support and education to attain the social, behavioral and self care skills necessary for community living.
